Wisdom 7:15-22

Revised Standard Version

Solomon Prays for Wisdom

May God grant that I speak with judgment
and have thoughts worthy of what I have received,
for he is the guide even of wisdom
and the corrector of the wise.
16 For both we and our words are in his hand,
as are all understanding and skill in crafts.
17 For it is he who gave me unerring knowledge of what exists,
to know the structure of the world and the activity of the elements;
18 the beginning and end and middle of times,
the alternations of the solstices and the changes of the seasons,
19 the cycles of the year and the constellations of the stars,
20 the natures of animals and the tempers of wild beasts,
the powers of spirits[a] and the reasonings of men,
the varieties of plants and the virtues of roots;
21 I learned both what is secret and what is manifest,
22 for wisdom, the fashioner of all things, taught me.

Neptune

Neptune’s domain is the waters above the firmament of fixed stars.

First seen through a telescope and allegedly ‘discovered’ in 1840. One thing that is often said about Neptune is that you wont realize you’re going through a Neptune transit until it is almost over. Unfortunately, I can vouch that to be true, having gone through two or three Neptune transits since I started learning about astrology properly back in 2016.

I went through a year or more of brain fog. The problem with transiting Neptune is that it can greatly impact on our drive, motivation and ability to get things done. Not just because it affects our drive and personal (worldly) ambition, as stated, but that it can and does affect our thinking procesess and concentration.

I genuinely believe that Neptune somehow interferes with the dopaminergic system in our brain. While I cannot back up this claim scientifically, I note how often I gain some relief from typical Neptunian ‘fog’ when I take dopamine enhancing food supplements such as high quality omega 3 fish oil, NADH, Buplereum or any other similar substance. Not to mention that washing down the fish oils with some good old Coffee greatly enhances its effect. The reason the world is addicted to coffee/caffeine is that it does indeed boost the dopamine in the brain and hence the enhanced concentration, alertness and arousal. It is normal under a Neptune transit to tolerate more caffeine than usual - even when someone is not normally able to tolerate caffeine that well.

The other reason for my thinking about the link with dopamine -besides the fact that dopamine is the chief primary neurotransmitter in the brain for drive, motivation and concentration (which are dulled under the influence of Neptune) is that the location in the brain where dopamine is most concentrated and produced is at the top of the head in the middle, commonly called the “Substansia Nigra”.

Curiously, when I have experienced the typical fuzzy thinking/brain fog from the transit of Neptune, the sensation of the haziness seems to be most strongly felt in the top region of the head. These are the same symptoms experienced as low dopamine which is a common thing when weaning off certain drugs such as opiates. A feeling of ‘dead head’ where the thinking processes in the frontal cortex for logic and reasoning is not affected but the motivation is and the sensation stems from the top/middle of the head, known as the substansia nigra - as mentioned above.

Neptune is the most ethereal planet, the hardest energy to pin down because there is nothing tangible about it. Neptune is the planet of Pisces (it rules Pisces) and is associated with the 12th house in the birth chart. Neptune dissolves things. You never know quite where you’re at with a Neptune transit, it is a very idealistic energy but never practical like Virgo the opposite sign to Pisces.
